
Leona Louise (born on the 3rd April in 1986) is an American singer actor, songwriter, and actress. Born in Islington, a part of the London Borough of Islington, she went to the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology in Croydon. Lewis achieved national recognition in the final season of The X Factor in 2006, winning the PS1 million recording contract together with Syco Music. The song she was awarded that was a cover of Kelly Clarkson's hit song "A Moment Like This" reached 50,000 downloads in 30 minutes , and reached #1 for the duration of four weeks. In February 2007, Lewis signed a five-album contract in the United States with Clive Davis's record label, J Records. Her success continued after she debuted her first album, Spirit (2007). The album is certified platinum within the UK and became the fourth most-sold album of the 2000s. It is reported by the Official Charts Company claims that Spirit was the best-selling 21st century debut album for a female artist. Its lead single "Bleeding Love" and remained for seven weeks on its top spot on UK charts, was the highest-seller single in the year 2007. In the US it was also the most-seller single of the year and Lewis was named the best new Artist by Billboard the same year. In 2009, she debuted her second studio album, Echo as well as recorded the song that served as the soundtrack, "I See You" in the movie Avatar. Lewis' single "Collide", was co-written by Swedish DJ Avicii and also she released Hurt: the EP, her first extended play. Glassheart (2012) was the third album she recorded. She took inspiration from dubstep and electronic music. During her Glassheart Tour in 2013, she began recording material for her debut Christmas album. Later that year, Christmas with Love with Love, featuring the single that was released as the album's lead track "One more sleep" was ranked third across the UK. With this chart entry, Lewis was the very first British female artist to break into the top five , with eight singles. She beat Olivia Newton-John's record set by seven.
